METROLOGY (TRANSPOSITION OF ARTICLE 6 OF

DIRECTIVE 2011/17/EU) REGULATIONS

The title of these regulations is the Metrology

(Transposition of Article 6 of Directive 2011/17/EU) Regulations.

The provisions of these regulations shall be without

prejudice to the Calibration of Tanks of Inland Waterway Vessels and

of Coasters (Revocation) Regulations, 2011, the Standard Mass of

Grain (Revocation) Regulations, 2011, the Cold Water Meter

(Revocation) Regulations, 2011, the Alcoholometers and Alcoholic

Hydrometers (Revocation) Regulations, 2011, the Tyre Pressure

Gauges (Revocation) Regulations, 2011, the Medium Accuracy

Weights (Revocation) Regulations, 2011 and the Weights of Above-

medium Accuracy (Revocation) Regulations, 2011 issued under and

for the purposes of the Metrology Act.

These regulations transpose the requirements of Article 6

of Directive 2011/17/EU of the European Parliament and of the

Council of 9 March 2011 repealing Council Directives 71/317/EEC,

71/347/EEC, 71/349/EEC, 74/148/EEC, 75/33/EEC, 76/765/EEC, 76/

766/EEC and 86/217/EEC regarding metrology.

In these regulations, unless the context otherwise

requires

"Directive" means Directive 2011/17/EU of the European

Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 repealing Council

Directives 71/317/EEC, 71/347/EEC, 71/349/EEC, 74/148/EEC, 75/

33/EEC, 76/765/EEC, 76/766/EEC and 86/217/EEC regarding

metrology.

Saving the provisions of the Calibration of Tanks of

Inland Waterway Vessels and of Coasters (Revocation) Regulations,

2011, and in accordance with Article 6(1) of the Directive, EC initial

verifications carried out and calibration certificates issued until 30

June 2011 under the Calibration of Tanks of Inland Waterway Vessels

and of Coasters Regulations, 2002, shall remain valid.

Saving the provisions of the Standard Mass of Grain

(Revocation) Regulations, 2011, the Cold Water Meter (Revocation)

Regulations, 2011, the Alcoholometers and Alcoholic Hydrometers

(Revocation) Regulations, 2011, and the Tyre Pressure Gauges

(Revocation) Regulations, 2011, and in accordance with Article 6 (2)

of the Directive, EC pattern approvals and EC pattern approval

certificates issued until 30 November 2015 under the Standard Mass of

Grain Regulations, 2002, the Cold Water Meter Regulations, 2002, the

Alcoholometers and Alcoholic Hydrometers Regulations, 2002 and the

Tyre Pressure Gauges Regulations, 2002, shall remain valid.

Saving the provisions of the Medium Accuracy Weights

(Revocation) Regulations, 2011 and the Weights of Above-medium

Accuracy (Revocation) Regulations, 2011, and in accordance with

Article 6 (3) of the Directive, weights in conformity with the Medium

Accuracy Weights Regulations, 2002 and weights in conformity with

the Weights of Above-medium Accuracy Regulations, 2002 may be

subject to EC initial verification in accordance with regulations 11, 12

and 13 of the Measuring Instruments and Methods of Metrological

Control Regulations 2006, until 30 November 2025.
