Bye-Law of 2025 to amend the Bye-laws of 2024 in terms of the

Doctor of Philosophy - Ph.D. - Degree Regulations, 2023

for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. -

under the auspices of the Faculty of Education

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74(5) and 75(6) of the

Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated

the following bye-law made by the Board of the Faculty of Education in virtue of

the powers conferred upon it by article 81(1)(c) of the said Act and which have been

approved by the Senate of the University of Malta as required by article 81(2) of the

said Act

Citation

This bye-law may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2025 to amend the Bye-

Laws of 2024 in terms of the Doctor of Philosophy - Ph.D. - Degree Regulations,

2023 for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. - under the auspices of the

Faculty of Education and shall be read and construed as one with the Bye-Laws of

2024 in terms of the Doctor of Philosophy - Ph.D. - Degree Regulations, 2023 for

the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. - under the auspices of the Faculty of

Education published as Legal Notice 221 of 2024, hereinafter referred to as “the

principal bye-laws”.

Applicability

This bye-law shall be applicable from 1 February 2025 onwards.

Amendment to bye-law 5 of the principal bye-laws

For the following paragraph (b) of bye-law 5 of the principal bye-laws

there shall be substituted the following

“(b) a Bachelor’s degree obtained with First Class Honours or Second Class

Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent, in an area of study related to the proposed

area of research, as deemed appropriate by the Faculty Doctoral Committee.”
