Owning and Keeping of Dangerous Animals (Amendment)

Regulations, 2025

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by articles 7(2) and 8 of

the Animal Welfare Act, the Minister responsible for veterinary

services, has made the following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Owning and Keeping of

Dangerous Animals (Amendment) Regulations, 2025 and these

regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Owning and

Keeping of Dangerous Animals Regulations, hereinafter referred to as

the "principal regulations".

Regulation 4 of the principal regulations shall be amended

as follows

(a) in sub-regulation 2 thereof the words "in Schedule

A." shall be substituted by the words "in Schedule A:" and

immediately thereafter there shall be added the following new

proviso

"

Provided that dangerous animals shall be

neutered within six months with effect from 17 th February

2025 unless an exemption is obtained from the Director in

accordance with the guidelines published in the

Government Gazette and on the website of the

Department.";

(b)

in sub-regulation 3 thereof the words "of these

regulations." shall be substituted by the words "of these

regulations:" and immediately thereafter there shall be added the

following proviso

"

Provided that a further ninety days with effect

from 17 th February 2025 shall be granted to any person

who has not yet complied with the requirements stipulated

in these regulations.".
