Firearms and Ammunition (Movement in Member States and

other Matters) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 65 of the Arms

Act, the Minister responsible for the Police, after consultations with

the Weapons Board, has made the following regulations:-

(1) The title of these regulations is the Firearms and

Ammunition (Movement in Member States and other Matters)

(Amendment) Regulations, 2025 and these regulations shall be read

and construed as one with the Firearms and Ammunition (Movement

in Member States and other Matters) Regulations, hereinafter referred

to as the "principal regulations".

(2) The scope of these regulations is to transpose Articles 1 and

2 of Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2024/325 of 19

January 2024 amending Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/68 as

regards the minimum depth of markings on firearms and essential

components.

In paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (1) of regulation 7A of

the principal regulations the words "the European Union." shall be

substituted by the words "the European Union:" and immediately

thereafter there shall be added the following new proviso

"Provided that item 1A of Schedule I shall only apply

to firearms and essential components placed on the market for

the first time on or after 22nd July 2025.".

Immediately after item 1 of Schedule I to the principal

regulations there shall be added the following new item

"1A. The minimum depth of the marking shall be at least

0,0762 millimetre.".
