Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicles

(Amendment No. 2) Regulations, 2025

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 20 of the

Motor Vehicles Registration and Licensing Act, the Minister

responsible for transport, has made the following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Registration and

Licensing of Motor Vehicles (Amendment No. 2) Regulations, 2025

and these regulations shall be read and construed as one with the

Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicles Regulations, hereinafter

referred to as the "principal regulations".

Sub-regulation (1) of regulation 39 of the principal

regulations shall be amended as follows

(a) in the first proviso thereof the words "September,

2022" shall be substituted by the words "October, 2027";

(b)

the second proviso thereof shall be deleted;

(c) the third proviso thereof shall be substituted by the

following new proviso

"Provided further that an administrative fee

of fifty euro (€50) shall be payable to the Authority for

the de-registration of any vehicle which is not disposed

of at an authorised treatment facility in accordance with

regulation 6(3) of the Waste Management (End-of-Life

Vehicles) Regulations by not later than the 31st

October, 2027, which administrative fee shall increase

to three hundred euro (€300) after such date.".
