Light Passenger Transport Services and Vehicle Hire Services

(Amendment No. 2) Regulations, 2025

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 54 of the

Traffic Regulation Ordinance and by article 43 of the Authority for

Transport in Malta Act, the Minister responsible for transport, after

consultation with the Authority for Transport in Malta, has made the

following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Light Passenger

Transport Services and Vehicle Hire Services (Amendment No. 2)

Regulations, 2025 and these regulations shall be read and construed as

one with the Light Passenger Transport Services and Vehicle Hire

Services Regulations, hereinafter referred to as the "principal

regulations".

In the second proviso to sub-paragraph (ii) of the proviso to

paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (1) of regulation 60 of the principal

regulations the words "of coming into force of these regulations;" shall

be substituted by the words "of coming into force of these

regulations:" and immediately thereafter there shall be added the

following new proviso

"Provided further that the owners of motor vehicles

for hire which are already in use and licensed for the carriage of

passengers and which are fifteen (15) years or older from the

date of registration at the time of coming into force of these

regulations shall be permitted to continue using such vehicles for

the provision of vehicle hire services up to the 31st December,

2025;".
