Critical Infrastructures and European Critical

Infrastructures (Identification, Designation and Protection)

(Amendment) Order, 2024

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 4(2) of the

European Union Act, the Prime Minister has made the following

order:-

The title of this order is the Critical Infrastructures and Citation.

European Critical Infrastructures (Identification, Designation and

Protection) (Amendment) Order, 2024 and this order shall be read and

construed as one with the Critical Infrastructures and European S.L. 460.24.

Critical Infrastructures (Identification, Designation and Protection)

Order, hereinafter referred to as the "principal order".

Article 2 of the principal order shall be amended as Amends article

2 of the

follows

principal order.

(a) immediately

after

the

definition

"critical

infrastructure" or "CI" thereof there shall be added the following

new definition

" "Department" means the Critical Infrastructure

Protection Department established by article 3;"; and

(b)

the definition "the Unit" thereof shall be deleted.

Article 3 of the principal order shall be amended as Amends article

3 of the

follows

principal order.

(a) the marginal note thereof shall be substituted by the

following new marginal note

" Critical Infrastructure Protection Department."; and

(b) sub-article (1) thereof shall be substituted by the

following new sub-article

"(1) There shall be a Government department to be

known as the Critical Infrastructure Protection Department

which shall have such functions as are assigned to it by law,

including those set out in this order.".

The principal order shall be amended as follows

amendments to

(a)

the words "The Unit", wherever they occur, shall be

order.

substituted by the words "The Department";

(b)

the words "by the Unit", wherever they occur, shall

be substituted by the word "by the Department";

(c) the words "the Unit", wherever they occur, shall be

substituted by the words "the Department"; and

(d) in the Maltese version only, the word "l-Unit",

wherever it occurs, shall be substituted by the word "d-

Dipartiment".
