Conservation of Wild Birds (Declaration on a Derogation for a

2023 Spring Hunting Season for Quail) Regulations, 2023

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by articles 54 and 55 of

the Environment Protection Act, the Minister responsible for the

environment in conjunction with the Minister for Gozo and after

consultation with the Environment and Resources Authority, and after

taking into account the recommendations of the Malta Ornis

Committee * , has made the following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Conservation of Wild Citation.

Birds (Declaration on a Derogation for a 2023 Spring Hunting Season

for Quail) Regulations, 2023.

Words and expressions used in these regulations, unless the Interpretation.

9(1)(c) of the Birds Directive were discussed on the 29 March 2023.

(1) The Spring Hunting Licence shall set the overall bag

limit for the spring hunting season at two thousand and four hundred

(2,400) Quail, as the total number of birds which may be hunted under

the authority of all issued licences taken together.

(2) The Spring Hunting Licence shall cease to have effect in

the event that the Minister orders, by notice in the Gazette or any other

notice, that the Spring hunting season shall terminate immediately or

at a date as specified by the Minister.
