Electricity (Amendment) Regulations, 2023

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 37 of the

Regulator for Energy and Water Services Act, the Minister responsible

for energy and water services after consultation with the Regulator, has

made the following regulations:-

(1) The title of these regulations is the Electricity Citation and

(Amendment) Regulations, 2023 and these regulations shall be read commencement.

estimated variable cost per kWh incurred by the distribution

system operator to meet the demand forecast for a given year

from locally generated conventional and imported electricity,

with the demand assumption excluding that portion of the

forecast demand which is not expected to be met by conventional

and imported electricity;".

54A. (1) Until such time that there is no liquid

wholesale electricity market established in Malta, the

distribution system operator shall offer to purchase all

the electricity generated and exported to the grid from

approved renewable energy generation installations and

high efficiency co-generation plants, which electricity is

to be sold to it at the proxy for the market price as

determined in the Fourth Schedule.

(2) The proxy for the market price for electricity

for the particular year shall be approved by the

Regulator.

(3) The Regulator may define which cost items

may be considered in the determination of the proxy for

the market price of electricity incurred by the

distribution system operator.".
