Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. - Degree (Amendment) Regulation, 2023

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the

Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated

the following regulation made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of

the powers conferred upon it by articles 75 (3) and 79 (b) of the said Act

Citation

This regulation may be cited as the Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. –

Degree (Amendment) Regulation, 2023 and shall be read and construed as one with

the Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. – Degree Regulations, 2023, published as Legal

Notice 85 of 2023, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.

Applicability

This regulation shall be applicable from 1 December 2023 onwards.

Amendment to regulation 35 of the principal regulations

For paragraph (2) of regulation 35 of the principal regulations there shall

be substituted the following

“(2) On the recommendation of the Faculty Doctoral Committee, the Board

and the Doctoral Academic Committee, Senate may also appoint a supervisory team

that includes the Principal Supervisor, a co-supervisor and/or an adviser, at least one

of whom has supervised a Ph.D. degree to completion or is at the grade of an associate

professor or a professor.”
