Master of Dental Surgery - M.D.S. - Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations,

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the

Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated

the following regulations made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of

the powers conferred upon it by articles 75 (3) and 79 (b) of the said Act

Citation

These regulations may be cited as the Master of Dental Surgery – M.D.S.

– Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2023 and shall be read and construed

as one with the Master of Dental Surgery - M.D.S. - Degree Course Regulations,

2014, published as Legal Notice 101 of 2014, hereinafter referred to as the “principal

regulations.”

Applicability

Dawn ir-regolamenti jistgħu jissejħu bħala r-Regolamenti tal-2023 biex

jemendaw ir-Regolamenti tal-Kors għall-Grad ta’ Master of Dental Surgery – M.D.S.

– u għandhom jinqraw u jinftiehmu bħala ħaġa waħda mar-Regolamenti tal-2014 tal-

Kors għall-Grad ta’ Master of Dental Surgery – M.D.S. – li ġew ippubblikati bħala

Avviż Legali 101 tal-2014, li minn hawn ’il quddiem jissejħu bħala “r-regolamenti

prinċipali.”

L-Applikabilità

These regulations shall be applicable from 1 July 2023 onwards.

Amendment to regulation 5 of the principal regulations

For paragraph (3) of regulation 5 of the principal regulations there shall

be substituted the following

“(3) The Board may allow students an additional year of study, if eligible in

terms of these regulations.”

Amendment to regulation 9 of the principal regulations

For paragraph (3) of regulation 9 of the principal regulations there shall be

substituted the following

“(3) Students who after the supplementary session fail in study-units to

which 10 or less ECTS credits are assigned, after academic counselling by the Dean

and/or the Head of Department concerned, may be given the option by the Board, to

either

(a) refer the failed study-unit/s to the following year to be done over and

above the study-units indicated for that year; or

(b) refer the failed study-unit/s to an additional year of study, if (i) the

study-unit cannot be referred to the following year in terms of paragraph (5) of this

regulation, or (ii) if they are in Year 5 of the Course. The possibility to refer study-

units to an additional year of study shall be allowed once in each of the two parts of

the Course; or

(c)

repeat the year, if eligible in terms of these regulations.”

għandu jidħol dan li ġej

“(3) L-istudenti li wara s-sessjoni supplimentari jeħlu f’taqsimiet-studju

li għalihom hemm assenjati 10 kretti ECTS jew anqas, wara pariri akkademiċi mid-

Dekan u/jew mill-Kap tad-Dipartiment ikkonċernat, jistgħu jingħataw l-għażla mill-

Bord, li jew

(a) jirreferu t-taqsima/taqsimiet-studju li weħlu fiha/fihom għas-sena ta’ wara

u jsegwuha/jsegwuhom flimkien mat-taqsimiet-studju indikati għal dik is-sena; jew

(b) jirriferu t-taqsima/taqsimiet-studju li weħlu fiha/fihom għal sena ta’ studju

addizzjonali, jekk (i) it-taqsima-studju ma tistax tiġi riferuta għas-sena ta’ wara skont

il-paragrafu (5) ta’ dan ir-regolament, jew (ii) ikunu fil-5 Sena tal-Kors. Il-possibbiltà

li tirriferi t-taqsimiet-studju għal sena ta’ studju addizzjonali għandha tingħata darba

f’kull waħda miż-żewġ partijiet tal-Kors; jew

(c)

jirrepetu s-sena, jekk ikunu eliġibbli skont dawn ir-regolamenti.”
