AUTHORITY FOR TRANSPORT IN MALTA ACT

Light Passenger Transport Services and Vehicle Hire Services
(Amendment) Regulations, 2022
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 54 of the
Traffic Regulation Ordinance and by article 43 of the Authority for
Transport in Malta Act, the Minister responsible for transport, after
consultation with the Authority for Transport in Malta, has made the
following regulations:-
(1) The title of these regulations is the Light Passenger Citation and
Transport Services and Vehicle Hire Services (Amendment) scope.
Regulations, 2022 and these regulations shall be read and construed as
one with the Light Passenger Transport Services and Vehicle Hire S.L. 499.68.
Services Regulations, hereinafter referred to as "the principal S.L. 65.33.
regulations".
(2) The scope of these regulations is to extend the time-frame
imposed by these regulations on the operators in order to modernize
the fleets of vehicles which are already licensed for the carriage of
passengers or motor vehicles for hire, as the case may be, from
September 2022 to September 2024.
Sub-regulation (3) of regulation 59 of the principal Amends
regulation 59 of
regulations shall be amended as follows
the principal
regulations.
(a) in the first proviso thereof, the word and number "two
(2)" shall be substituted by the word and number "four (4)"; and
(b) in the second proviso thereof, the word and number
"twelve (12)" shall be substituted by the words and number
"forty eight (48)".
Sub-regulation (1) of regulation 60 of the principal Amends
regulation 60 of
regulations shall be amended as follows
the principal
regulations.
(a) in the proviso to sub-paragraph (ii) of the first proviso
of paragraph (b) thereof, the word and number "two (2)" shall be
substituted by the word and number "four (4)"; and

(b) in the second proviso to sub-paragraph (ii) of the first
proviso of paragraph (b) thereof, the word and number "twelve
(12)" shall be substituted by the words and number "forty eight
(48)".
