Malta Council for Science and Technology Agency
(Establishment) (Amendment) Order, 2021
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 26(4)(b) of the
Public Administration Act, the Prime Minister has made the following
The title of this order is the Malta Council for Science and
Technology Agency (Establishment) (Amendment) Order, 2021 and
this order shall be read and construed as one with the Malta Council
for Science and Technology Agency (Establishment) Order,
hereinafter referred to as "the principal order".
Article 2 of the principal order shall be substituted by the
following new article
"2. There shall be an Agency, to be known as the Malta
Council for Science and Technology Agency, hereinafter referred
to as "the Agency", which shall be autonomous and which shall
carry out functions related to the commercialisation of activities
related to science, technology, research and innovation.".
Article 4 of the principal order shall be substituted by the
following new article
"4. (1) The Minister responsible for the Agency
shall be the Minister who is assigned the responsibility
for research and innovation or such other Minister so
assigned for such purpose by the Prime Minister.
(2) The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry
responsible for the Agency shall supervise the Agency in
accordance with the provisions of article 29 of the Public
Administration Act
Provided that the Permanent Secretary
in the Ministry responsible for the Agency may be
assisted in such supervision by another Permanent
Secretary in accordance with the provisions of article
14(6) of the Public Administration Act.".
