MALTESE CITIZENSHIP ACT

Publication of Names of Citizens of Malta and Persons Deprived of

Maltese Citizenship Regulations, 2020

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 24 of the

Maltese Citizenship Act, the President of Malta has made the

following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Publication of Names of

Citizens of Malta and Persons Deprived of Maltese Citizenship

Regulations, 2020.

In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires

"Act" means the Maltese Citizenship Act;

"applicant" means the person who applies for Maltese citizenship

by means of naturalisation or registration, and includes dependent

persons or persons who apply on behalf of another person;

"Minister" shall have the same meaning as assigned to it in the

Act.

The Minister shall every year publish in the Gazette the

names of all the persons who within the previous twelve (12) calendar

months had been granted Maltese citizenship by registration or

naturalisation, including those persons who were granted Maltese

citizenship for exceptional services in accordance with the Granting of

2020. Citizenship for Exceptional Services Regulations

Provided that for reasons of security, the Minister may in

his absolute discretion not publish the names of such persons.

The Minister shall as soon as practicable, ensure that the

names of those persons deprived of Maltese citizenship is published by

means of a notice in the Gazette

Provided that for reasons of security, the Minister may in

his absolute discretion not publish the names of such persons.
