Co-operative Societies (Establishment of Administrative Penalties

and Sanctions) (Amendment) Regulations, 2020

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 17 and 108 of

the Co-operative Societies Act, the Minister responsible for matters

relating to co-operative societies has made the following regulations

The title of these regulations is the Co-operative Societies

(Establishment of Administrative Penalties and Sanctions)

(Amendment), 2020 and these regulations shall be read and construed

as one with the Co-operative Societies (Establishment of

Administrative Penalties and Sanctions) Regulations, hereinafter

referred to as "the principal regulations".

Immediately after regulation 5 of the principal regulations,

there shall be added the following new regulation

"6. The Board shall, in the exceptional circumstances

that a public health emergency is declared in accordance with the

Public Health Act, when imposing the administrative penalties

and sanctions established in the Schedule relating to the violation

of articles 48, 64 (1) and 65 (1) of the Act, deem the period

during which the public health emergency is in force, as

suspended until forty-five (45) days after the public health

emergency is lifted by the Superintendent of Public Health.".
