Rate of Interest in the Duty on Documents and Transfers Act

Regulations, 2020

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by articles 22 and 22A of

the Duty on Documents and Transfers Act, the Minister for Finance

and Financial Services has made the following order:-

(1) The title of these regulations is the Rate of Interest in

commencement.

the Duty on Documents and Transfers Act Regulations, 2020.

(2) These regulations shall be deemed to have come into force

on 1st January, 2020.

In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires-

"the Act" means the Duty on Documents and Transfers Act.

Save as otherwise expressly provided, interest under the

Act shall apply at the rate of zero point three three per centum (0.33%)

for every thirty (30 days) or part thereof.

The interest applicable in paragraph (ii) of sub-article (4) of

article 35 of the Act shall apply at the rate of four per centum (4%) per

annum.
