Malta Police (Amendment) Regulations, 2019

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 82 of the

Police Act, the Minister responsible for the Police, has made the

following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Malta Police Citation.

(Amendment) Regulations, 2019 and these regulations shall be read

and construed as one with the Malta Police Regulations, hereinafter S.L. 164.01.

Regulation 2 of the principal regulations, shall be amended Amends

(a) in the definition "member of the Force" thereof, the

words "Acting Commissioner;" shall be substituted by the words

"Acting Commissioner."; and

(b)

the definition "prisoner" thereof, shall be deleted.

Regulation 4 of the principal regulations, shall be amended Amends

regulation 4 of

as follows

the principal

regulations.

(a) in sub-regulation (2) thereof, the words "one year"

shall be substituted by the words "two (2) years";

(b) in sub-regulation (3) thereof, after the words

"extended probation" there shall be added the words "in a

satisfactory manner";

(c) in sub-regulation (4) thereof, the words "three years"

shall be substituted by the words "two (2) years in a satisfactory

manner,";

(d) in sub-regulation (5) thereof, the words "three years"

shall be substituted by the words "four (4) years in a satisfactory

manner,"; and

(e) immediately after sub-regulation (5) thereof, there

shall be added the following new sub-regulation

"(6) A Constable First Class who has served in that

capacity for a period of not less than four (4) years in a

satisfactory manner, may be appointed as Senior Police

Constable by the Commissioner.".

Regulation 5 of the principal regulations, shall be amended

as follows

(a) in sub-regulation (1) thereof, after the words "Third

Class" there shall be added the words "on probation.";

(b) in sub-regulation (2) thereof, the words "three years"

shall be substituted by the words "two (2) years in a satisfactory

manner"; and

(c) in sub-regulation (3) thereof, the words "three years"

shall be substituted by the words "four (4) years in a satisfactory

manner".
