Bye-Laws of 2019 to amend the Bye-Laws of 2016 in terms of the

General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the

Degree of Master in Teaching and Learning - MTL -

under the auspices of the Faculty of Education

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the

Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated

the following bye-laws made by the Board of the Faculty of Education in virtue of

the powers conferred upon it by article 81 (1) (c) of the said Act and which have been

approved by the Senate of the University of Malta as required by article 81 (2) of the

said Act

These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2019 to amend the

Bye-Laws of 2016 in terms of the General Regulations for University Postgraduate

Awards, 2008 for the Degree of Master in Teaching and Learning - MTL - and shall

be read and construed as one with the Bye-Laws of 2016 in terms of the General

Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the Degree of Master

in Teaching and Learning - MTL - under the auspices of the Faculty of Education,

published as Legal Notice 161 of 2016, hereinafter referred to as “the principal bye-

laws”.

Applicability

Reg. 2 — under the auspices of the Faculty of Education Open official source

These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October

2019 or later.

Amendment to bye-law 6 of the principal bye-laws

The following sub-paragraph (iv) shall be added after sub-paragraph

(iii) of paragraph (b) of bye-law 6 of the principal bye-laws

“(iv) for Dance: a first cycle degree with at least 70 ECTS credits in Dance;”

Sub-paragraphs (iv) to (xxi) of paragraph (b) of bye-law 6 of the

principal bye-laws shall be renumbered as sub-paragraphs (v) to (xxii).

Addition of bye-law 17 to the principal bye-laws

The following bye-law 17 shall be added after bye-law 16 of the

principal bye-laws

“17. In cases where students pass a Field Placement on re-assessment the

Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Classification Board, may award a

lower classification.”

Re-numbering of bye-laws 17 and 18 of the principal bye-laws

Bye-laws 17 and 18 of the principal bye-laws shall be re-numbered as
