Pre-Tertiary Certificate in the Foundations of Coaching Course (Amendment)
Regulations, 2019
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the
Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated
the following regulations made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of
the powers conferred upon it by articles 75 (3) and 79 (b) of the said Act
Citation
These regulations may be cited as the Pre-Tertiary Certificate in the
Foundations of Coaching Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2019 and shall be read
and construed as one with the Pre-Tertiary Certificate in the Foundations of Coaching
Course Regulations, 2010 published as Legal Notice 170 of 2010, hereinafter referred
to as “the principal regulations”.
Applicability
These regulations shall be applicable for courses starting in October
2019 or later.
Amendment to regulation 5 of the principal regulations
For paragraph (1) of regulation 5 of the principal regulations there shall
be substituted the following
“5.
(1)
The Course shall extend over a period of 17 weeks of part-time
study.”
Amendment to regulation 7 of the principal regulations
For paragraph (1) of regulation 7 of the principal regulations there shall
be substituted the following
“7. (1) The programme of study shall comprise study-units to which a
total of 20 ECTS credits are assigned, including a practice placement which shall be
conducted with either a Youth Nursery or with SportMalta.”

Amendment to regulation 8 of the principal regulations
Paragraphs (1) to (4) of regulation 8 of the principal regulations shall be
re-numbered as paragraphs (2) to (5).
The following paragraph (1) shall be added before paragraph (2) of
regulation 8 of the principal regulations
“8. (1) The assessment of each study-unit shall be completed by the end
of the semester in which the teaching of the study-unit is held,
provided that study-units which continue over a second semester shall be assessed
once the teaching of the study-unit and the practical placement (if applicable) have
been completed.”
