Bye-Laws of 2018 to amend the Bye-Laws of 2014 in terms of the

General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the

Degree of Master of Gender Studies - M.G.S. -

under the auspices of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the

Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated

the following bye-laws made by the Board of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing in

virtue of the powers conferred upon it by article 81 (1) (c) of the said Act and which

have been approved by the Senate of the University of Malta as required by article 81

(2) of the said Act

These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2018 to amend the

Bye-Laws of 2014 in terms of the General Regulations for University Postgraduate

Awards, 2008 for the Degree of Master of Gender Studies - M.G.S. - and shall be read

and construed as one with the Bye-Laws of 2014 in terms of the General Regulations

for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the Degree of Master of Gender Studies

- M.G.S. - under the auspices of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, published as Legal

Notice 386 of 2014, hereinafter referred to as “the principal bye-laws”.

Applicability

These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in

October 2018 or later.

Amendment to bye-law 7 of the principal bye-laws

Reg. 3 — under the auspices of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing Open official source

For paragraph (3) of bye-law 7 of the principal bye-laws there shall be

substituted the following

“(3) A provisional title and brief provisional proposal shall be submitted in

the required format at the beginning of the second semester. The proposed title for

the dissertation and a detailed research proposal outlining the proposed project and

the main questions to be addressed shall be submitted to the Board of Studies for

approval by not later than six weeks after the approval of the provisional proposal.”

For paragraph (1) of bye-law 8 of the principal bye-laws there shall be

substituted the following

“8. (1) The Board shall appoint a Panel of Supervision for each student,

normally composed of three members as follows: the Dean of the Faculty, or his/her

delegate as Chairperson, and two other members, one of whom being the principal

supervisor, provided that when the Dean of the Faculty is the supervisor, s/he shall

not chair the panel.”
