FISHERIES CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT ACT

Fishing Vessels (Amendment) Regulations, 2018

BY VIRTUE of the powers conferred by article 38 of the

Fisheries Conservation and Management Act, the Minister for the

Environment, Sustainable Development, and Climate Change, in

conjunction with the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture,

Fisheries and Animal Rights, has made the following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Fishing Vessels

(Amendment) Regulations, 2018 and these regulations shall be read

and construed as one with the Fishing Vessels Regulations,

hereinafter referred to as "the principal regulations".

Regulation 8 of the principal regulations shall be

substituted as follows

There shall be identified in the Fishing

"Fishing

Vessels

Vessels Register various categories of fishing

Register.

vessels equipped for the commercial exploitation of

marine biological resources and the Director may

register these under appropriate segments as

follows

Category A: Commercial Fishing Vessels – Full-time

Category B: Commercial Fishing Vessels – Part-time

Category C: Non-commercial Fishing Vessels

Provided that work boats registered as

such under the Merchant Shipping Act may be

permitted by the Director to carry out any

operation at sea in support of or in preparation

of any activity related to fishing by issuing a

fishing licence under article 12 of the Act

limited to the period necessary for those

activities and limited to specific activities.".
