AUTHORITY FOR TRANSPORT IN MALTA ACT
(CAP. 499)
Passenger Transport Services (Amendment No. 3)
Regulations, 2017
IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 43 of the
Authority for Transport in Malta Act, the Minister for Transport and
Infrastructure, after consultation with the Authority for Transport in
Malta, has made the following regulations:-
The title of these regulations is the Passenger Transport Citation.
Services (Amendment No. 3) Regulations, 2017, and these
regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Passenger S.L. 499.56
Transport Services Regulations, hereinafter referred to as "the
principal regulations".
Regulation 2 of the principal regulations shall be amended Amends
regulation 2 of
as follows

regulations.
(a) immediately after the definition "road transport
services" there shall be added the following new definition
" "seat belt" shall have the same meaning
assigned to it in the Motor Vehicles (Wearing of
Seat Belts) Regulations;"; and
(b) immediately after the new definition "seat belt"
there shall be added the following new definition
" "school children" means all children attending
schools providing tuition up to a secondary level of
education;".
Regulation 64 of the principal regulations shall be Amends

(a) sub-regulations (1), (2), (3) and (4) thereof shall be
re-numbered as sub-regulations (2), (3), (4) and (5)
respectively; and
(b) immediately before sub-regulation (2) thereof, as
renumbered, there shall be added the following new sub-

"(1) Without prejudice to the Motor
Vehicles (Wearing of Seat Belts) Regulations, no
passenger transport vehicle that is not fitted with
seat belts on all seats shall be used for the
carriage of school children to or from a school or
to or from any other institution or location where
extracurricular or sports activities are held.".
