Bye-Laws of 2017 to amend the Bye-Laws of 2015 in terms of the

General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the

Certificate in Language Proficieny - Cert. Lang. Pr. - and the

Diploma in Language Proficiency - Dip. Lang. Pr. -

under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the

Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated

the following bye-laws made by the Board of the Faculty of Arts in virtue of the powers

conferred upon it by article 81 (1) (c) of the said Act and which have been approved by

the Senate of the University of Malta as required by article 81 (2) of the said Act

These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2017 to amend the

Bye-Laws of 2015 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate

Awards, 2004 for the Certificate in Language Proficieny - Cert. Lang. Pr. - and the

Diploma in Language Proficiency - Dip. Lang. Pr. - and shall be read and construed

as one with the Bye-Laws of 2015 in terms of the General Regulations for University

Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Certificate in Language Proficieny - Cert. Lang.

Pr. - and the Diploma in Language Proficiency - Dip. Lang. Pr. - under the auspices

of the Faculty of Arts, published as Legal Notice 338 of 2015, hereinafter referred to

as “the principal bye-laws”.

Applicability

These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October

2017 or later.

Amendment to bye-law 5 of the principal bye-laws

Reg. 3 — under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts Open official source

For bye-law 5 of the principal bye-laws there shall be substituted the

following

“Duration of Courses

(1) The duration of the Courses if followed concurrently with another

course shall be as follows

(a)

Certificate Course: 6 semesters on a part-time basis; and

(b) Diploma Course: 4 to 6 semesters on a part-time basis, beyond the

Certificate Course.

(2) A different duration may be appoved if Course is not followed

concurrently with another course.”
