Conservation of Wild Birds (Declaration on a Derogation for a

2017 Spring Hunting Season for Quail) Regulations, 2017

BY VIRTUE of the powers conferred by article 54 of the

Environment Protection Act, and in terms of the provisions of the

fourth proviso of regulation 10(6) of the Conservation of Wild Birds

Regulations, the Minister for Sustainable Development, the

Environment and Climate Change has made the following

regulations:-

context otherwise requires, shall have the same meaning as given to

them in the Conservation of Wild Birds Regulations, hereinafter S.L. 549.42

For the purposes of the fourth proviso to regulation 10(6) Establishment

of the Wild Birds Regulations and for the purposes of these of

hunting period.

season", shall be from the 25th March to the 14th April, 2017, both

Provided that the provisions of these regulations shall

cease to have effect and no hunting activity shall be permitted in the

event that the Minister orders, by notice in the Gazette or any other

notice, that the spring hunting season is to terminate immediately or

at a date as specified by the Minister.

The Spring Hunting Licence shall set the overall Special licence

bag limit for the spring hunting season at 5,000 Quail as the total and quotas.

(2) The Spring Hunting Licence shall set the daily bag limit to

five (5) Quail and the spring hunting season’s bag limit to ten (10)

Quail per Spring Hunting Licence or however many below this

number might have been hunted before the season closed.

(3) The Spring Hunting Licence shall cease to have effect in

the event that the Minister orders, by notice in the Gazette or any

other notice, that the spring hunting season is to terminate

immediately or at a date as specified by the Minister.
