Local Councils (Procurement) Regulations, 2017

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 72 of the

Local Councils Act, the Minister responsible for Justice, Culture and

Local Government has made the following regulations:-

(1) The title of these regulations is the Local Councils

(Procurement) Regulations, 2017.

(2) These regulations shall come into force on such date as the

Minister responsible for Justice, Culture and Local Government may

by notice in the Gazette establish.

In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires

"the Act" means the Local Councils Act;

"Director" has the same meaning as assigned to it in the

Act;

"Procurement Guidelines" means the Procurement

Guidelines issued by the Director in terms of article 80 of the

Act, to be followed by the Local Councils in the execution of

their functions and responsibilities under the Act and in

accordance with these regulations;

Save as otherwise provided in the Procurement Guidelines

issued by the Director, as approved by the Minister, the Public

Procurement Regulations shall apply to Local Councils.

The Local Councils (Tendering) Regulations, are hereby

being revoked.
