Mental Health Act (Amendment of Fourteenth Schedule)

Regulations, 2017

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 47 of the

Mental Health Act, the Minister for Health has made the following

regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Mental Health Act

(Amendment of Fourteenth Schedule) Regulations, 2017 and these

regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Fourteenth

Schedule of the Mental Health Act, hereinafter referred to as "the

Fourteenth Schedule".

Immediately after the title ‘SPECIAL TREATMENT

LIST’ in Part I of the the Fourteenth Schedule, there shall be added

the following

"Only the following therapeutic invasive or irreversible

interventions for mental illness, as determined by the Minister,

may be carried out on a patient with a mental disorder

-

Stereotactic Ablative Anterior Capsulotomy for severe

refractory Major Depressive Disorder

-

Stereotactic Ablative Anterior Capsulotomy for severe

refractory Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

-

Stereotactic Ablative Anterior Cingulotomy for severe

refractory Major Depressive Disorder

-

Stereotactic Ablative Anterior Cingulotomy for severe

refractory Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ".
