EDUCATION ACT

Statute amending Statute 3 (Amendment No. 17) of the University of Malta –

Courses of Studies, Degrees and Distinctions

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74(5) and

75(6) of the Education Act (CAP. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has

promulgated the following Statute made by the Council of the University of Malta

in virtue of the powers conferred upon it by articles 75(2) and 77(d) of the said Act

Citation

This statute may be cited as the Statute amending Statute 3 (Amendment

No. 17) of the University of Malta – Courses of Studies, Degrees and Distinctions -

and shall be read and construed as one with the Statutes of the University of Malta

included in Schedule II of the Education Act (Cap.327), hereinafter referred to as “the

principal statute”.

Applicability

This statute shall be applicable from 1 June 2017 onwards.

Amendment of article 3.4 of the principal statute

For article 3.4 of the principal statute there shall be substituted the following

“3.4. The University shall also have the power to confer degrees honoris causa as

stipulated in the Award of Honoris Causa Degrees Regulations.”
