PLANT QUARANTINE ACT

Seeds of Vegetable Landraces and Varieties

(Amendment) Regulations, 2014

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 32 of the Plant

Quarantine Act, the Minister for Sustainable Development, the

Environment and Climate Change, in conjunction with the

Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal

Rights, has made the following regulations:-

(1) The title of these regulations is the Seeds of Citation and

Vegetable Landraces and Varieties (Amendment) Regulations, 2014, scope.

and these regulations shall be read and construed as one with the

Seeds of Vegetable Landraces and Varieties Regulations, hereinafter S.L. 433.27

referred to as "the principal regulations".

(2) The scope of these regulations is to transpose Commission

Implementing Directive 2013/45/EU amending Council Directives

2002/55/EC and 2008/72/EC and Commission Directive 2009/145/

EC as regards the botanical name of tomato.

In Schedule I to the principal regulations, for the words Amends

"Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.", there shall be substituted the words Schedule

the principal

"Solanum lycopersicum L.".

In Schedule II to the principal regulations, for the words Amends

"Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.", there shall be substituted the words Schedule

the principal

"Solanum lycopersicum L.".
