Insurance Business (Assets and Liabilities)

(Amendment) Regulations, 2014

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 64 of the

Insurance Business Act, the Minister for Finance, after consultation

with the Malta Financial Services Authority, has made the following

regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Insurance Business Citation.

(Assets and Liabilities) (Amendment) Regulations, 2014, and these

regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Insurance S.L. 403.16

Business (Assets and Liabilities) Regulations, hereinafter referred to

as "the principal regulations".

Regulation 68 of the principal regulations shall be Amends

(a)

subregulation (6) thereof shall be substituted by the

following

"(6) For variable interest investments

that are equity shares in companies subject to,

or drawing up accounts as if subject to the

Companies Act, the yield on an asset, subject

to subregulation (14), shall be

(a)

the dividend yield, if the

dividend yield is more than the earnings

yield;

(b) otherwise, the sum of the

dividend yield and the earnings yield,

divided by two."; and

(b) in subregulation (7) thereof, for the words "For the

purposes of subregulation (6), the relevant amount in relation to

equity shares", there shall be substituted the words "For the

purposes of subregulation (6), the earnings in relation to equity

shares".
