Groundwater Abstraction (Metering) (Amendment)

Regulations, 2012

IN exercise of the powers conferred article 28 (1) of the Malta

Resources Authority Act, the Minister for Resources and Rural

Affairs, after consultation with the Malta Resources Authority, has

made the following regulations

The title of these regulations is the Groundwater

Abstraction (Metering) (Amendment) Regulations, 2012, and

they shall be read and construed as one with the Groundwater

Abstraction (Metering) Regulations, 2010 hereinafter referred to as

“the principal regulations”.

Regulation 2 of the principal regulations shall be

amended as follows

(a) the definitions “domestic garden” and “domestic

groundwater source” shall be deleted; and

(b) immediately after the definition “the Corporation”

there shall be added the following new definition

“domestic purposes by the user’s household” means the use of

any groundwater source which is located in a residential tenement

and where the groundwater abstracted is used for household

purposes, or for the irrigation of a garden which is not bigger than

one thousand (1000) square metres, or for watering of animals kept

as pets;”.

Sub-regulations (1) and (2) of regulation 17 of the

principal regulations shall be deleted and sub-regulations (3), (4)

and (5) thereof shall be renumbered as sub-regulations (1), (2) and

(3) respectively.
