Textiles (Implementation) Regulations, 2012

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 39 of the Product

Safety Act, the Minister for Fair Competition, Small Business and

Consumers, on the advice of the Malta Competition and Consumer

Affairs Authority, has made the following regulations:-

(1) The title of these regulations is the Textiles Citation, scope

and

(Implementation) Regulations, 2012.

commencement.

(2) These regulations implement the provisions of Regulation

(EU) No 1007/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of

27 September 2011 on textile fibre names and related labelling and

marking of the fibre composition of textile products and repealing

Council Directive 73/44/EEC and Directives 96/73/EC and 2008/121/

EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.

(3) These regulations shall be deemed to have come into force

on 8 May 2012.

(4) Textile products which comply with the Textile

Regulations, as promulgated by Legal Notice 206 of 2010, which are

placed on the market before 8 May 2012 may continue to be made

available on the market until 9 November 2014.

"the revoked regulations"), promulgated by Legal Notice 206 of Textile

Regulations.

2010, and transposing Directives 73/44/EEC, 96/73/EC and 2008/ L.N.

2005. 121/EC are hereby revoked with effect from 8 May 2012.

(2) References to the revoked regulations shall be construed as

references to Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 on textile fibre names

and related labelling and marking of the fibre composition of textile

products and shall be read in accordance with the correlation tables in

Annex X to the said Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011.
