Waste Management (Shipments of Waste) (Amendment),

Regulations, 2011

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by articles 61 and

62 of the Environment and Development Planning Act, the Prime

Minister, after consultation with the Malta Environment and

Planning Authority, has made the following regulations:-

The title of these regulations is the Waste Management

(Shipments of Waste) (Amendment)Regulations, 2011, and they

shall be read and construed as one with the Waste Management

(Shipments of Waste) Regulations, 2011, hereinafter referred to as

“the principal regulations”.

These regulations transpose the provision related to

Regulation (EC) No1013/2006 of 14 June 2006 on shipments

of waste as outlined in Directive 2009/31/EC on the Geological

Storage of Carbon Dioxide.

In regulation 3 of the principal regulations,

immediately after sub-paragraph (3) thereof there shall be added

the following new sub-paragraph

“(4) shipments of CO2 for the purposes of geological

storage in accordance with the Geological Storage of Carbon

Dioxide Regulations, 2011.”.
