Conservation of Wild Birds (Declaration of the periods for

Hunting and Taking for 2011) Regulations, 2011

BY VIRTUE of the powers conferred by article 61 of the

Environment and Development Planning Act, and in terms of the

provisions of regulation 10(6)(t) of the Conservation of Wild Birds’

Regulations, 2006, the Prime Minister has made the following

regulations :–

Terms and expressions used in these regulations, unless Interpretation.

the context otherwise requires, shall have the same meaning as

given to them in the Conservation of Wild Birds Regulations, 2006, L.N. 79 of 2006.

hereinafter referred to as the “2006 Regulations”.

For the purposes of establishing the period for the hunting Establishing

and taking of wild birds under paragraphs (i), (ii) and (iii) of sub-

regulation (6) of regulation 10 of the 2006 Regulations, the Prime

Minister has established the following dates: -

(a) the hunting of birds on land shall be permitted

between the 1st September 2011 and the 31st January 2012,

betwen two hours before sunrise and two hours after sunset

on any day between Monday and Saturday, and between two

hours before sunrise and 1 o’ clock in the afternoon (1.00

p.m) on Sundays and Public Holidays

Provided that hunting on land between the 15th

September 2011 and the 30th September 2011 shall not be

permitted from Monday to Saturday after 3.00 pm and two

hours before sunrise of the next following day.

(b) the hunting of birds at sea shall be permitted

between the 1st October 2011 and the 31st January 2012.

The applicable times for the taking and shooting of wild

Applicability of the

taking and shooting of

rabbits between the 15th September 2011 and the 30th September

Wild Rabbit

2011 shall be as established in the proviso to paragraph (a) of

regulation 3 of these regulations.
