EDUCATION ACT

Statute amending Statute 3 (Amendment No. 15) of the University of Malta-

Courses of Studies, Degrees and Distinctions

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74(5) and

75(6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of

Malta has promulgated the following statute made by the Council of the

University of Malta in virtue of the powers confen-ed upon it by articles 72,

75(1), 77(d) and 136(3) of the said Act

Citation

I. This statute may be cited as the Statute amending Statute 3 (Amendment No. 15)

of the University of Malta - Courses of Studies, Degrees and Distinctions - and shall be

read and construed as one with the Statutes of the University of Malta included in

Schedule II of the Education (Cap.327), hereinafter refeITed to as "the principal statute".

This statute shall be applicable from October 2009 onwards.

Amendment of Statnte 3 of the principal statute

Paragraphs 6 and 7 shall be added after paragraph 5 of the statute 3.2 of the

principal statute

"6. COUllcil may approve that the provisions of any statute shall not apply to

joint and double degrees whenever provisions on the same subject matter are included

in the regulations or bye-laws for a course leading to a joint or double degree.

Senate may approve that the provisions of any regulation shall not apply to

joint and double degrees whenever provisions on the same subject matter are included

in the regulations or bye-laws for a course leading to ajoint or double degree."

Re-numbering of paragraphs 5 to 6 of statute 3.2 of the principal statute

4. Paragraphs 5 to 6 of the statute 3.2 of the principal statute shall be re-numbered

as paragraphs 5 to 8.
