Control of Certain Animal Diseases (and Specifically the Swine

Vesicular Disease) (Amendment) Rules, 2010

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by article 5 of

the Veterinary Services Act, the Minister for Resources and Rural

Affairs has made the following rules:-

The title of these rules is the Control of Certain

Animal Diseases (and specifically the Swine Vesicular Disease)

(Amendment) Rules, 2010 and they shall be read and construed as

one with the Control of Certain Animal Diseases (and specifically

the Swine Vesicular Disease) Rules, 2008 hereinafter referred to as

“the principal rules”.

Rule 17 of the principal rules shall be amended as

follows:-

(a) for paragraph (b) of sub-rule (1) thereof there shall

be substituted the following

“(b) a national laboratory responsible for

coordinating standards and diagnostic methods in

Malta in accordance with Schedule III to these rules.

The competent Authority shall make the details of its

national laboratory, and any subsequent changes thereto,

available to the other Member States and to the public in

a manner that may be specified in accordance with the

procedure referred to in rule 22 of these rules.”; and

(b) for sub-rule (5) thereof there shall be substituted

the following

“(5) The competent Authority shall maintain

updated lists of the national laboratories referred to in

sub-rule (1) hereof and make them available to the other

Member States and to the public.”.
