Motor Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment)

Regulations, 2009

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 54 of the Traffic

Regulation Ordinance and by article 33 of the Malta Transport

Authority Act, the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and

Communications has, after consultation with the Malta Transport

Authority, made the following regulations

The title of these regulations is the Motor Vehicles Citation.

(Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 2009 and

they shall be read and construed as one with the Motor Vehicles

(Registration and Licensing) Regulations, 2004 hereinafter referred L.N. 476 of 2004.

to as “the principal regulations”.

(1) In regulation 2 of the principal regulations the Amends regulation

definition “motor omnibus” shall be deleted.

(2) Immediately after the definition “motor hearse” in

regulation 2 of the principal regulations there shall be inserted the

following definition

“ “motor route bus” means any motor vehicle which is

licensed or registered to carry more than eighteen passengers,

excluding the driver, and which is registered with the central

office for scheduled services to perform scheduled trips.”.

Regulation 29 of the principal regulations shall be amended Amends regulation

as follows

(a) in sub-regulation (5) thereof, for the words “motor

omnibus” wherever they appear there shall be substituted the

words “motor route bus”; and

(b) in sub-regulation (6) thereof, for the words “Motor

Vehicles (Carriage of Passengers by Road) Regulations” there

shall be substituted the words “Passenger Transport Services

Regulations”.
