Conservation of Wild Birds

(Declaration of the periods for Hunting and Taking for 2008)

Regulations, 2008

BY VIRTUE of the powers conferred by article 9 of the

Environment Protection Act, and in terms of the provisions of regulation

10(6)(t) of the Conservation of Wild Birds’ Regulations, 2006, the Prime

Minister has made the following regulations>–

The title of these regulations is the Conservation of Wild Birds Citation.

them in the Conservation of Wild Birds Regulations, 2006, hereinafter L.N. 79 of 2006.

Minister has established the following dates>–

(a) the hunting of birds on land shall be permitted between

the 1 st September 2008 and the 31 st January 2009, betwen two hours

before sunrise and two hours after sunset on any day between

Monday and Saturday, and between two hours before sunrise and

1 o’ clock in the afternoon (1.00 p.m) on Sundays and Public

Holidays>

Provided that hunting on land between the 15 th September

2008 and the 30 th September 2008 shall not be permitted from

Monday to Saturday after 3.00 pm and two hours before sunrise of

the next following day.

(b) the hunting of birds at sea shall be permitted between

the 1 st October 2008 and the 31 st January 2009<

(c) taking of finches shall be allowed between the 1 st October

2008 and the 31 st December 2008<

(d) taking of Turtle Dove and Quail between the 1 st September

2008 and the 30th October 2008< and

(e) taking of Golden Plover and Song Thrush between the 20 th

October 2008 and 31 st December 2008.

The applicable times for the taking and shooting of wild rabbits

between the 15th September 2008 and the 30th September 2008 shall

be as established in the proviso to paragraph (a) of regulation 3 of these

regulations.
