Urban Waste Water Treatment (Amendment) Regulations, 2005

BY VIRTUE of the powers conferred by article 9 of the

Environment Protection Act, the Minister for Rural Affairs and the

Environment has made the following regulations>–

The title of these regulations is the Urban Waste Water Citation.

Treatment (Amendment) Regulations, 2005, and they shall be read and

construed as one with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations, L.N. 340 of 2001.

2001 hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.

For sub-regulation (7) of regulation 6 of the principal 6 of the principle

regulations, there shall be substituted the following>

regulations.

“(7) The competent authority shall ensure that areas

identified as sensitive, as listed in Annex II following review under

sub-regulation (6), shall meet the above requirements.”.

(1) For paragraph 3 of section B of Annex I to the principal Amends Annex I to

the principal

regulations, there shall be substituted the following>

regulations.

“3. Discharges from urban wastewater treatment plants to

those sensitive areas which are subject to eutrophication as

identified in Annex II shall in addition meet the requirements shown

in Table 2 of this Annex.”.

(2) For the title of Table 2 of Annex I to the principal

regulations there shall be substituted the following title>

“Requirements for discharges from urban waste water

treatment plants to sensitive areas which are subject to

eutrophication as identified in Annex II. One or both parameters

may be applied depending on the local situation. The values for

concentration or for the percentage of reduction shall apply.”.

Immediately after section B of Annex II to the principal Amends Annex II to

regulations, there shall be added the following new sections C and D> the

regulations.
