Registration of Holdings in National Databases for Porcine Animals Rules, 2004

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 8 of the Veterinary Services Act, 2001 the

Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment has made the following rules:-

Title and scope

(1) The title of these rules is the Registration of Holdings in National Databases

for Porcine Animals Rules, 2004.

(2) The scope of these rules is to implement provisions of the European Union

Council Decision 2000/678/(EC) on the registration of holdings in national databases for

porcine animals

Provided that the provisions under European Union Council Directive

64/432/EEC shall be without prejudice to these rules.

Definitions

2 For the purposes of these rules, “ the competent authority” means Veterinary

Services as established under article 2 of the Veterinary Services Act.

Information to be included in the Holding Register

(a) il-kodici tal-pajjiz u n-numru ta’ identifikazzjoni li jkun jikkonsisti

f’mhux aktar minn 12- il figura (apparti l-kodici tal-pajjiz);

(b) l- indirizz tar-razzett;

(c) l- isem u l- indirizz tal-persuna responsabbli ghall-annimali;

(d) il-ko-ordinati geografici jew indikazzjoni geografika ekwivalenti tar-

razzett;

(e) sezzjoni ta’data fejn ikun possibli ghall-awtorità kompetenti li ddahhal

informazzjoni sanitarja, bhalma huma restrizzjonijiet fuq movimenti,

status jew informazzjoni rilevanti ohra fil-kuntest ta’ programmi

Komunitarji jew nazzjonali.

(e) kull informazzjoni ohra li titqies necessarja mill-awtorità kompetenti.

(1)The holding register shall contain at least the following information on each

holding with porcine animals

(a) the country code and the identification number consisting of not more

than 12 figures (apart from the country code);

(b) the address of the holding;

(c) the name and address of the person responsible for the animals;

(d) the geographic co-ordinates or equivalent geographic indication of the

holding;

(e) a data field where it is possible for the competent authority to enter

sanitary information, such as restrictions on movements, status or other

relevant information in the context of Community or national

programmes.

(2) In addition to the information indicated in sub-rule (1), hereof, the holding

register may contain the following information on each holding with porcine animals

(a) type of production;

(b) capactiy;

(c) name and address of the owner of the holding;

(d) name and address of the person responsible for sanitary measures;

(e) other information deemed necessary by the competent authority.

Provided that the competent authority shall inform the Commission of the information

mentioned in this sub-rule which is included in the holding register in the national

databases for porcine animals.
