Local Councils (Financial) (Amendment) Regulations, 2004

IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 67 and 72 of the

Local Councils Act, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice

and Home Affairs, after consultations with the Prime Minister and

Minister of Finance, has made the following regulations>-

The title of these regulations is the Local Councils (Financial)

(Amendment) Regulations, 2004 and they shall be read and construed

as one with the Local Councils (Financial) Regulations 1993, hereinafter

referred to as “the principal regulations”.

In regulation 36 of the principal regulations, immediately after

subregulation (4) there shall be added the following new subregulation>–

“(5) Council members may be insured in a health scheme

insofar as such Council has a positive balance of accounts or such

scheme does not result in a negative balance in the Council’s

accounts.”.
