MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT

(CAP. 234)

Merchant Shipping (Hours of Work) (Amendment)

Regulations, 2004

IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 122C and 374

of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Minister for Competitiveness and

Communications has made the following regulations>–

The title of these regulations is the Merchant Shipping Citation.

(Hours of Work) (Amendment) Regulations, 2004, and shall be read

and construed as one with the Merchant Shipping (Hours of Work)

Regulations, 2002, hereinafter referred to as “the principal L.N. 213 of 2002.

regulations”.

For sub-regulation (1) of regulation 11 of the principal Amends regulation

11 of the principal

regulations, there shall be substituted the following>–

regulations.

“(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of regulation 5

of the Young Persons (Employment) Regulations, 2003 and

L.N. 440 of

2003. subject to sub-regulation (2) hereof, no seafarer under the

age of 18 years shall work at night.”.
