The European Parliament (Suspension of Certain Provisions)
Order, 2004
IN virtue of the powers conferred by article 4(2) of the European
Union Act, 2003, the Prime Minister has made the following Order>–
This Order may be cited as The European Parliament
(Suspension of Certain Provisions) Order, 2004.
Notwithstanding anything contained in the European
Parliament Elections Act, 2003 during the period between the 1st
May, 2004 and the beginning of the 2004-2009 term of the European
Parliament, members of the House of Representatives may sit as
Members of the European Parliament and any provision of the
European Parliament Elections Act, 2003 to the contrary shall during
such period be suspended and shall only have effect with regard to
the election of members of the European Parliament to be held in
June 2004 and subsequent elections.
