Duty on Documents and Transfers

on Intellectual Property Assignments Exemption Order, 2000

IN EXERCISE of the powers vested in him by section 23 of

the Duty on Documents and Transfers Act, 1993, the Minister of

Finance has ordered that, as from the 1st June, 2000, the duty otherwise

chargeable in terms of section 36 of the said Act in respect of any

assignment of a right involving "intellectual property", defined for the

purposes of the exemption as "any trademark, copyright, design right

or any other similar right whether registered under national legislation

or not", shall not be levied.
