Labelling and Presentation of Foodstuffs (Amendment)

Regulations, 1998

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 of the Food,

Drugs and Drinking Water Act, the Ministlr of Health, Care of the

Elderly and Family Affairs, on the advice of the Malta

standardisation Authority, has made the following regulations:-

l. These regulations may be cited as the Labelling and

Presentation of Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations, 1998 and shall

be read and cbnstrued as one with the Labelling and presentation of

Foodstuffs Re gul ation s, 1992, hereinaft er referred to as "the principal

regulations".

Immediately following paragraph 7.4 of the principal

regulations, there shall be added the following paragraph:-

"7.5. When the date of minimum durability or the ..use

by" date appears on the label, the indication of the lot number

need not appear on the foodstuff, provided that the date consists

at least of the uncoded indication of the day and the month in

that order.".
