National Minimum Wage National Standard

Order , 1997

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Conditions

of Employment ( Regulation) Act, the Minister for Social Security . on

the recommendation of the Labour Board. has made the following

order. -

I. This Order may be cited as the National Minimum Wage

National Standard Order. 1997.

The National Minimum Wage per week related to a nonnal

worki ng week shall be as fo llows

Age 18 and over .................................. Lm43.88c per week

Age 17 years ........................................ Lm40.97c per week

Under 17 years .... ................................. Lm39 .75c per week

Provided that with effect from the 1st April. 1997, the National

Minimum Wage per week related loa normal working week shall be as

follows

Age 18 and over .................................. Lm44.l3c per week

Age 17 years ......... ............................... Lm41 .22c per week

Under 17 years ..................................... Lm40.00c per week.

The National Minimum Wage of part-time employees shall

be paid pro raw at an hourly rale nOI below the Siandard National

Minimum Wage applicable. as delennined in accordance with article 2

of this Order and divided by fMY

Provided that the provisions of the Wage Increase (Part-time

Employees) National Standard Order, 1997. shall not apply to the

National Minimum Wage as fixed by this Order.
