IN exe rcise of the powers conferred by section II of the Local

Manufactures (Promotion) Act. the Minister for Economic Affairs and

Industry has made the following regolations: -

I . These regulations may be cited liS the Promotion of Local

Manufactures (Applications for Exemptions) Regulat ions, 1997.

In these regullilions. unless the context otherwise requires:-

~AcC means the Local Manufactures (Promotion) Act

"exemption" means an exemption grHnted by the Minister to

any person in tenns of section 9 of the Act. from the payment in

whole or in pan. of the levy due on any goods imported by him;

"Minister" means the Minister responsible for industry.

The prescribed fonn for an application for an exemption shall

be in accordance with the form shown in the Schedule to these

regulations.

A processing fee of LmS shall be paid by an applicant to the

Department of Industry in respect of each application on the prescribed

form filed with the same Department. Fees paid shall under no

circumstances be refunded.
