O rd er (No . 2). 1997

IN e xercise of the !X)wers conferred by section 4 of the Conditions

of Employmen t (Regulation) Act. the Minister fOf Social Welfare . on

the recommendation of the La bou r Board . has made the following

order:-

I. This order may be cited as the Natio nal Minimum Wage

National Standard Order (No.2) . 1997. and it shall come into effcct on

the 1st January . 1998 .

The Nalional Minimum Wage of part ti me emp loyees shall

bcpro ( 11111 at an hourly mte not below the National Standard Mini mum

Wage applicable . as deteml ined in accordance with the preccdingarticle

hereof and divided by forty.

4 . Where any Wages Council Wage Reg ulation Order applies 10

any employee. the wages payable to such employee shall nOI be less

than those lai d down by such Wages Council Wage Regulation Order.

adjusted for cost of living by successive increases of wages declared to

be ge nerall y applicable to all whole-time employees in tenus of section

16 o f the Cond itions o f Employment (Reg ulation) Act, o r by any

successive wage increases for cost of living laid down by any national

smndard order.
