Pu blic Registry Act (Schedules) (Amend ment) Reg ul ations, 1997

IN exercise of the powers conferred by sec tion 39 of the Public

Registry Act, the Mi nister of Justice and Local Coum;i]s. with the

concurrence o f the Minister of Finance and Commerce, has made the

following regulations: -

I . These regul ations may be cited as the Public Regi suy Act

(Schedules) (Amendment) Regulations, 1997, and shall be rcad and

cons trued as one with th e Schedules to the Public Registry Act,

hereinafter referred to as "the Schedules".

(2)

The regu lations shall come into force on the 1st January,

1998.

For every note for registration where the debt is an

annuity or a pension. the fees laid down in the foregoing

scale shaJJ be levied in the following manner, namely

(a) if the ann ui ty is constituted in perpetuity

or for twenty years or more, or for an indefinite

period, the fee is to be assessed on the tOUlI amount

payable during the period of twenty years

(b) if the annuity is constituted for II defi ni te

period under twenty years, the fee is to be assessed

on lhe lotal amount payable during such period

(c) if the lln nuity is constituted for the tife

or lives of any person or persons. the fees is to be

assessed on the total amount payable du ring the

period oflwelve years.

assessed on the total amount payable during the

period of twelve years.
