(Amendment) Reg ulatiomi, l997
In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 30 (5)
and 31 (6) of the Education Act (Cap.327). the Chancellor of the
Universit y of Malta has promulgated the following regu lations made
by the Senate of the Un iversi ty of Malta by vinueofthe powers con ferred
upon it by sectio ns 31 and 35 of the said Act
Citation
I. The regulat ions may be ciled as The Doctor of Laws - LL.D. Degree Course
(Amendment) Regu lations. 1997 and shall be read and construed as one wilh The
Doctor of Laws - LL.D. Degree Course Regulations, 1997. hereinafter referred to as .
the principal regu lations".
These regulations shall be applicable to courses stan.ing in October 1997 or
later.
Addition or sub paragraph (3) to rcgul ation 4 of the principal r egula tions
There shall be added the following sub-paragraph (3) after sub-paragraph 4
(2) of the pri nci pal regul at ions
(3) Candidates in possession of the B.A. (Legal and Huma nistic Studies)
who do nO( have the necessary requirements to register for the course in terms of
Regulation 4 ( I). as well as candidates in possession of a degree in law other then the
B.A. (Legal and Humanistic Studies) that is considered by the Board to be of an
equivalent standard . may be allowed by the board to register for a qualifying year of
Studies at the e nd of wh ich they will be required to sit final examinat ions in the Law
subjects followed during the qualifying year. Such candidates will become eligible to
be ad.mined 10 the course leading to the degree of Doctor of La ws if they pass the fi nal
examinati ons and obtain an avernge Grade C in these examinations.
Addition of rcgulalion 13 after reg ulation 12 (3) or th e principal regulations
There shall be added the following regu lation 13 after regulation 12 (3) of
the principal regulatio ns

13 . Regu lmion 4 (3) shall apply to all ca nd idates appl ying to register for courses
commencing in October 1997 or later.
