Statute II • Quality Assurance a nd Academic Audit

IN exercise of the poweflO conferred upon him by sections 30(5)

and 31(6) o f the Education Act (Cap. 327). the Chancellor of the

University of Malia has promulgated the following statute made by the

Council of the University of Malta by virtue of the powcrs conferred

upon it by sections 31 and 33 of the ~id Act

Citation

I. This smtllte may be c ited as Statute II . Quality Assurance and Academic

Audit.

This statute is applicable as from April 1997.

STATm' E II· QUALITY ASSURANCE Ar-..'D ACA DEI\.1JC AUDIT,

I. The University will establish and regularly review policies on academic

standards. In order to ensure that these policies are implemented and that the desire

qual ity standards are met, a Quality Assurance Committee and an Academic Audi t

Unit will be set up.

2. The tenus of reference of the Quality Assurance Committee shall inc lude the

following

(a) establ ishing procedures for the evaluation and prom()(ion of qua lity

leaching . researc h and ad ministrative services;

(b) instit uting schemes to reward quality servi ces and innovative teaching

approaches, research and adminisU"lIlive services; and

(e) proposing ways of im provi ng the University's support services to

teaChing , researeh and admini strative servi ces.

4 . The Academic Audit Unit shall be composed of a Director who will be a

senior membe r of the academic staff serving the Unit on a part-ti me basis. a fU ll-time

senior admin istrntor. and such other staff as may be required from lime to lime.
